Viet Hai Village
Cycle a forest path to a farming village of seventy people. Rice paddies, water buffalo, zero traffic lights.
Overview & Experience
Nestled in a hidden valley deep within the tropical rainforest of Cat Ba National Park, Viet Hai Village is an ancient settlement that remained almost entirely cut off from the outside world for generations. Even today, no automobile roads connect Viet Hai to the mainland; it can only be reached by boat across Lan Ha Bay followed by a scenic bicycle journey.
Disembarking at Viet Hai pier, guests hop onto mountain bicycles or open-air electric carts for a 5-kilometer ride along a smoothly paved valley road. The route weaves beneath towering rainforest canopies, passes through a naturally blasted rock tunnel, and opens into a verdant amphitheater of emerald paddy fields dotted with grazing water buffalo.
In the village, explore traditional thatch-and-timber dwellings, converse with local elders about organic rice farming and beekeeping, and treat your tired feet to a natural mineral stream teeming with tiny massage fish that gently exfoliate your skin.
